BC MEDIA EXPEDITION (ROADTRIP!)

I’ll spare the Wikipedia entry-like introduction to who I am and where I come from.
After 14 years in media, I am banking this campaign on you knowing how good I have been and how much greater you know I can be.
I can’t do it alone. Which is why we are here on GoFundMe.
In October I returned to Seattle area where I grew up. I didn’t just return to my home town of Bothell/Mill Creek; I returned to live in the home I grew up in. To live with my sister and her family and my father.
It’s been amazing being back after 15 years. To say it has been a shift in lifestyle would be gross understatement.
When I left Los Angeles I didn’t know who I was anymore. What I wanted. And I definitely didn’t know whom I could trust.
Coming home has put almost my entire life back into perspective. All the things that used to drive me to success, give me my need for creative fulfillment and set me aside from the rest started to come back. For a while it all felt out of place. I was was often labeled “crazy” because I cared too much. And I helped cement that feeling because I let a lot of people use me in ways that made it seem as though I had lost sight of my true value. My self worth. But that’s behind me. I am not a victim.
Coming home, I’ve cherished becoming a family man. Helping to raise my 2 and 7 year old nieces. Helping my father remodel a 100 year old farm house. Being a big gay brother to my little sister again! My sister even came with my to the 2019 GayVN Awards! It’s been the greatest choice I ever could make. Coming home. Getting back to basics.
I’m reminded every day how important it is that we live for more than just ourselves. That we strive to help others selflessly where we can.
I’ve been faced with two options: fade away into oscurity, be the best uncle ever and train horses.
Or stand by my industry. My craft. Finish on my terms. Start the process of securing my original goals in Queer Media.
If you follow me on twitter you know how restless I have been. I’ve put a tremendous amount of unfocused creative energy there. While reconnecting with you all has been encouraging, I’d like to use this kind of fever pitch output for more productive projects.
So I am I’m proposing a Road Trip:
I take a little trip with the cameras and equipment already have at my disposal.
I develop a new website (“Gallery Space”) dedicated to the entire journey as it unfolds. Everything will be posted there such as:
Cinema and Photography by Brent Corrigan, sketches by special collaborators to to-be-announced, original music composed by up and coming musicians. Updates made online for a blitzkrieg 45 day “art walk” experience (example: Twitter Video Journal).
Throughout the trip, daily updates in the form “bite sized” footage and photo sets will be uploaded to social media. You might call this reality-oriented “B-Roll” Material. Slice of life kind of stuff. But the true grit and anything of real merit will have to be digested and enjoyed on the new website.
This includes a documentary that seeks to find out the state of queer and adult media in todays world. Where are we at and where are we going? Get answers to all the metaphysical questions a creative person might need answered to find productivity & prosperity again. IE ME – Yeah. I’m going to document my journey as I seek to get in touch more of the better stuff I still have to offer the media world.
Which brings me to the topic of ‘WHY A GO FUND ME?’:
This trip and the creative splurge that will result from it is designed to re-enliven Homestead. The concept of launching a new production collective that is the evolution of what I once planned as my next studio. When it failed to launch last year, it took months for me to clear my mind.
Now I’m back to an inspired place and by reconnecting with my roots, it will help me find the pieces of me that have been misplaced over the years. Relationships, personal doubts and distractions have made it harder to “check in” with myself. The open road and meditation through creation is needed to find ALL of myself.
In the coming days of this campaign filmmaker D.P. Wells will join us to present his vision of the documentary segment of this creative collective.
WHAT $25,000 GETS US
• Budget for location, travel and food costs.
• Resources required on trip including hotel rooms/airBnB’s, gas, rental car, flights to and from LAX.
• Park passes/permits
• Special recreation along the trip
(horseback riding in Red Rock, white water rafting in Grand Canyon, etc)
Talent pay and compensation for D.P. Welles’ & Brent Corrigan’s time. Both will be on the project for a perceived 14 day scrimmage. Some models will join the trip on certain parts of the open road expedition. They will need to be flown in, compensated for their pay, fed and housed while on the road.
Creative Contractors and special touches. (Let’s pay our artist collaborators!) There is an artist or three I would like to pay to do sketches/paintings of all of the models and me. I also want to pay a composer to make a few pieces of music for us to use as soundtrack to evoke the feel of trip. I’d like to budget a bit for wardrobe (vintage shopping/thrift store items that feel classic and timeless).
It’s not just an afterthought how things look or what people wear before they take it off (if that’s what the art calls for). Especially on one of my sets.
This Road Trip is intended to be used to test out my creative method and the theory that a lot of art with an adult element can sell like, or even better, than what OnlyFans/JustFans and subscription based websites sell. But doesn’t necessarily have to be . . . NSFW or gratuitously sexy.
It’s not easy to ask for help, but I believe in this project.
Trust has always been difficult for me.
But one thing has always been true: I trust my supporters and fans. And I hope you can put your trust in me again.
I am hard working when I set my mind to something. As an actor, filmmaker, horseman, I am a take-no-prisoners sort of creative thinker.
The Brent Corrigan Media Expedition will begin to get me back in the hearts and minds of the people that I am more than just a model. I am a filmmaker with racey point of view.
I look forward to the opportunity to share this powerful journey with all of you. Thanks for all your love and support through the years and here today.
Much Love,
SPL/Brent Corrigan
