BRENT HAS ONLY 45 DAYS WORTH OF INSULIN LEFT! THAT'S RIGHT---45 DAYS! AND BECAUSE OF INSURANCE ISSUES----THE MELISSA AND PETE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO START PAYING HUGE DOLLARS FOR IT OUT OF POCKET WHILE THEY APPEAL THE STATE! IT'S TIME TO STEP UP AND HELP IN ANYWAY WE CAN! IF YOU HAVE $10 TO SPARE---PLEASE DONATE!
Please see below on what Melissa wrote yesterday. It is heart breaking BUT we can help make it a little easier if we all pull together and help one another out. Please consider helping!
FROM MELISSA YESTERDAY.....
Over the last 24 hours we have gotten confirmation regarding how the state aid insurance was flagged and canceled. The results make me even further disgusted to have the confirmation of what I knew.We are in the process of appealing. We are also in the process of trying to get pre-authorization for the Humalog (this is the only short acting insulin that works for Brent). As it stands today he only has 45 days worth of insulin. I am sick to my stomach over this. Pete and I are numb to the realization of what can be. Our kids are worried. If you no nothing about insulin and diabetes and what families face let me be the first to inform you...it’s death.
In 2006 Brent was born a diabetic. He went into a coma at 12 hours of age. At 3 months we surpassed the realization of what it would mean to have a T1. By 6 months of age his underlying terminal illness presented: IPEX- Syndrome. I have fought insurance companies, hospitals, worked with schools, had to live isolated with limited contact, been on 24 hour vigils for Brent, and have helped him through suicidal thoughts, bullying, and more.To have things set and moving forward was a HUGE relief. To have selfishness actions take all of that away, is disgusting!45 days.... Currently without insurance his insulin is over $3K. With insurance we don’t know. When we had state aid it was $80. Pete and I are focusing on our kids, hoping he can still work, I get through training and can work, and going through the appeal processes.I am avoiding social media as much as possible. We have been close to loosing Brent before - but this one is wayto close to home.
