Brent Kaoru Matsuda survived in Honoka’a by his children Meghann Kealoha Matsuda, Douglas Blackie Matsuda, Kamana’o Matsuda and Ezekiel Rita. On September 11, 2022, Brent Matsuda was found unresponsive at a hotel in Kona.
Brent Matsuda was a retired Rescue Fire Captain in Hilo. Brent was an avid surfer, kite surfer, and explorer. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. 20 years ago, Brent Matsuda fell 14 stories through a lava tube. The doctors told the family that Brent would not survive. A miracle happened, as his internal bleeding and lung puncture had healed. God saved his life that day, and allowed him to live another 20 years before calling him back home on that same day.
Brent Matsuda was loved by many. Brent may not be Hawaiian, but he had a Hawaiian heart. We are expecting about 500 people to join us on October 2nd at Hāpuna Beach. For those who knew Brent and his family, they are asking for support for the funeral. The family has decided to push the funeral forward to Brent’s Birthday. That way we can celebrate his life on the actual day he was born. Which means, time is short. So we are asking for everyone to help Meghann & Blackie In this time to honor their Dad, Brent Matsuda. Extra money will be going to close the affairs of the late Brent Matsuda.
