Brent’s Hearing Aids
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Brent, some people might know me as Brentosaur. A few years ago I began losing my hearing, having frightening episodes of vertigo, and losing my balance. After a series of tests an ENT doctor informed me that I have something called Ménière’s disease, a little known illness that causes migraines that destroy your hearing and episodes of vertigo that impact your ability to maintain your balance.
I’ve been managing the vertigo and migraines with medicine, but the only way to get my hearing loss under control and through the use of hearing aids, hearing aids that are unfortunately not covered by insurance. My hearing loss is severe and asymmetrical, but is beginning to spread to my good ear.
After a recent consultation with an audiologist I was told that there are only a couple of options for hearing aids suitable for my condition and level of hearing loss. Unfortunately they are all very expensive, not covered by insurance, and there are no programs I qualify for to help with the cost.
What I need help paying for is the cost of one hearing aid and one cross transmitter. I had planned to resign to defeat, but my wife encouraged me to try and turn to the generosity of others.
I miss hearing everything clearly. I miss not feeling like a nuisance. I miss not fearing what people think of me when I don’t hear them. Mostly I miss being able to hear my daughter.
Thank you for whatever help you can provide.
