Brett Vandegriffe family

On May 3rd our Bayer colleague and a friend to many, Brett Vandegriffe, suffered an unimaginable loss.  Brett’s wife, Lauren, tragically passed away.   At the time of her unexpected passing, Lauren was 39 weeks pregnant with their first baby, a baby girl.  After two weeks, Brett was able to bring GiGi home!  GiGi is thriving!  A miracle in the midst of the sorrow, Brett’s top priority has been GiGi, surrounding her with love, family and friends.  

As many know, bringing a baby home can be stressful under normal circumstances.  No one is prepared for what Brett is going through, but we are all prepared to help him through this.  Brett is surrounded with a tremendous support group of friends and family, however, many have asked how they can help.  Brett is hiring a night nanny to allow him to sleep while knowing GiGi is well taken care of.  For those that are looking for a way to help Brett and GiGi, we are raising money to help cover or contribute to the expense of a night nanny, and any other potential unforeseen expenses.

In Brett’s words, ‘through this period of grief, my gratitude towards everyone is immense.’  As an additional way to remember Lauren, Brett has asked us to:

     ‘Take a moment to think of the five things you are most grateful for today, and then do it again tomorrow.’
