Bretts Camen Medical expenses!

Brett Camen is a 16-year-old student athlete at Libby High School, participating in football, basketball and track and field. He is a volunteer referee for Libby Youth Soccer and a promising welding technology student.  Since his father’s death in 2012, Brett has taken on the role of man of his family. He works often and plans a career as a welder.


Brett became ill in November 2017, with major headaches and blurry vision loss. Brett was diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cerebri in December of 2017. This uncommon condition causes an excess of cerebrospinal fluid to build up and put pressure on the brain and spine. The symptoms mimic those of a tumor in the brain. Thus far, damage to his optic nerves has caused Brett to lose his sight. Brett has had three spinal taps, been on medications causing other issues, had surgery to put a shunt in his brain, has numerous visits to doctors and specialists in Kalispell every week, and are now facing traveling out of state with an extended stay to find the cause of this, and try to save his vision. His current doctors have no experience with a case as severe as his and have referred him to a specialist hospital that doesn’t take his insurance. Through it all Brett has kept a hopeful, positive state of mind, and a smile that people never forget.


Brett’s mother is disabled. She is the sole provider for the family and these costs are exhausting her already tight budget.  This amazing young man is a wonderful son, brother, and friend to many, and he deserves the best chance to grow into the man he will be. He deserves the best care available. Please help him to access that care!
