"You don't have to, you get to."
One week ago, today, our beautiful, baller, Breya Busby, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Up until that moment, Breya's life was that of a normal 17-year-old teenager who is in her junior year at Charlotte Christian School. Breya has been a basketball player since she was in the 5th grade, and her goal is to play the sport she loves in college. She is a bright, kind, loving, sweet, energetic girl who is a fierce competitor on the court, but your best friend off the court. She has a unique quality of being a quiet leader with the ability to make others around her feel confident and better about themselves.
Breya will undergo an intense chemotherapy treatment plan combined with specific nutrition to heal her body, as well as tolerated strength and conditioning to keep her body and mind strong. The timeline of her treatment plan is an initial 6-8 month intense chemotherapy program for remission, followed by an 18 month chemo maintenance plan, where she, God-willing, will feel more like herself.
These funds will go straight to medical costs/needs for Breya, as well as help with travel costs related to her treatments. We are thankful to God for excellent medical care for Breya, but that does come at quite an expense, and these costs have already begun. We know there will be more hospital stays in the future, because that's just part of this diagnosis, but we are thankful for the help to offset these burdens for the Busby family.
We know that not everyone is in the position to contribute much or any at all, and we are thankful for anything you're able to do! But also know, your prayers for Breya are priceless!!!
If we know one thing about Breya, she’s a warrior! Her competitive spirit has her in fight mode with the will to win in all that she does. With that fight and determined spirit, she will WIN this battle as well, and leukemia will lose!!! We may not understand why, but we do know that our God makes NO mistakes! We trust in Him and His plan for her life. Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you [Breya], declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” She will fight this battle with God leading the way and an army of prayer warriors fighting with her! #BeatItBreezy #4BB #BreyaStrong #BusbysBeatCancer
