Run and Raise for Myanmar Campaign
Donation protected
Three and a half years after the military coup in Myanmar and the collapse of its economy and rule of law, Myanmar people continue to survive without fundamental human rights. On the rare occasion in which Myanmar does reach the pages of international news, it is about the ongoing killing of innocent civilians and, most recently, the floods, a long-predicted symptom of Myanmar’s climate change crisis. Day by day, people somehow carry on through long hours of Internet and electricity blackouts, fuel shortages and desperate attempts to keep food on the table. Their reality is that healthcare or even the chance to go to school is a luxury following the devastation of the public health sector and the transformation of education systems into an ideological and physical battleground. The Myanmar people continue to be the ones who lose the most.
Thus, a few of us are initiating a campaign to run and raise funds for Myanmar while becoming healthier and fitter! One of the recipients is Prospect Burma, a UK-registered charity that provides pathways to higher education for Myanmar’s most marginalized young people. Learn more about Prospect Burma's work here - https://www.prospectburma.org/. Donations will also be sent to local organizations in Myanmar to support building schools and providing educational resources and medical supplies.
