Brgy. Sayao, Sibonga Typhoon Odette Relief Fund

Cebu is one of the hardest hit islands by category 4 Super Typhoon Odette (English equivalent name: Super Typhoon Rai).  Sayao, a small village in the mountainous region of Sibonga, Cebu is where I am from.

 

At 1800ft above sea level, more than half of the houses in the village were destroyed. Residents are without homes, struggling with strong winds, cold rain, lack of food and drinkable water-- putting the elderly and the disable in a most vulnerable predicament. The village also lost its power supply and any type of communication signal. Road access to and from Sayao remains treacherous, debris blocking roadway and the ever present danger of land slides.

 

We have requested help but local government units has not been able to access this remote location due to the overwhelming devastation not only in my village, but throughout the rest of the region as well.  We have provided them aerial pics of possible location for Philippine FEMA helicopter to land but as of the making of this page, they are yet to answer our call for help.  The storm may have brought us to our knees but as Filipinos, it is ingrained in our being to remain resilient in the face of adversity.  I know that one person can make little difference, but I also know of the power and the impact a collective effort can bring.

 

I am knocking on your heart's door to please join my cause.  Any monetary help will provide to this village much needed relief such as power, food, water, medicine and other supplies. Whether you give tithe on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, I hope and pray that you consider this relief fund the next time you make a donation.
