Brian Anderson- Funds for Epilepsy

Donation protected

Every cent raised will be given directly to past and present campers that Brian was deeply connected with through the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado. For many of them having epilepsy is just one of many struggles.

Some are involved in passions like graphic arts and theater, martial arts and athletics. Some work long hours at tedious jobs for little pay, while others are still struggling through high school and college. The funds given to them in memory of Brian are to fuel those passions and help them achieve the things that truly make their hearts happy.

There are very few people on this planet that I have connected with on such a deep level. Brian George Anderson was my best and closest friend. We met in 7th grade, traveled the world together, backpacking and laughing. If you knew me you knew Brian. He was my brother.

When he left this planet he lifted that piece of my soul that he held. His birthday was April 24, two days before mine. Recently we celebrated our 40th birthday and over 27 years of friendship.

Brian's mom had asked if there was something people could donate to in place of flowers at his memorial. Without question this is it.

Brian and I have been involved with the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado and its mission to help youth with seizure disorders. Since 2009 Brian has been a camp counselor. He was so genuinely passionate about all the campers, and stayed in touch with them throughout the years. The week long camps are in the mountains, and each counselor is in charge of one room of four campers. By the end of that time, you form the deepest and most incredible bonds. It is truly magic.

Some of these campers have overcome unimaginable obstacles, and epilepsy often times is only one of many challenges they face. Brian was never one to brag about his pure heart of gold and his acts of kindness. I just found out after his passing that he went to visit a camper and her family in the hospital when she had to be coma induced. He never told me. I'm sure that was one of many things he has done quietly over the years, and exemplifies the type of human he was.

Every cent raised will be given to his campers directly. Some struggle to live on their own, working long hours for little pay in jobs that strain them. You may be able to relate. I have a lofty goal and will post,  with permission , past and present campers that will be receiving your donations in Brian's honor.

I have never known such absolute grief. It sucks the wind out of you. This feeling solidifies the deep conversations Brian and I had over the years. Brian knew with absolute certainty that we are all deeply connected, souls entwined. When such a pure and wonderful soul moves on, this ripple effect is tremendous.

Feel free to share your best memories and stories as well. There are hidden gems that Brian kept to himself, and it would be wonderful for his mom,  Bette,  to hear how much impact her son had.

Please help me extend this ripple effect to the young people that Brian cared so deeply for. Thank you in advance.
