Help Us Complete Brian Barczyk’s Dream Aquarium Expansion
As many of you know, our beloved founder, Brian Barczyk, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and despite his tireless fight, he sadly passed away before he could see the completion of his lifelong dream—the expansion of the aquarium at LegaSea.
For decades, Brian poured his heart and soul into the world of animals, creating a space where people of all ages could come to learn about and connect with wildlife. His vision for the aquarium was to build something truly special—an immersive, educational space where visitors could explore the wonders of the natural world, all while fostering a deeper appreciation for conservation.
While Brian is no longer with us, his legacy continues to drive us. With the unwavering support of his incredible wife, Lori, and our dedicated team, we are committed to finishing what he started.
Where We Are Now:
We’re proud to share that significant progress has been made on the aquarium expansion:
- The expanded exhibits at the Reptarium and mammal section are complete.
- The Capybara and Giant Aldabra Tortoise exhibit is nearing completion.
- All the aquariums have been set up, with leak testing successfully done.
- The theming is in progress, and we’re preparing to cycle the tanks.
We are so close, but we still need your help to finish this incredible project.
Why We Need Your Support:
Brian’s dream was to create a space that would educate, inspire, and connect people with the natural world. We want to honor his legacy by ensuring that his vision is fully realized—and we need your support to make that happen.
We are asking for donations to help cover the final costs of:
- Completing the remaining exhibits and animal enclosures: Finalizing animal habitats to ensure the health and safety of all species, including the Capybara and Giant Aldabra Tortoise exhibits.
- Theming and educational materials: Crafting interactive and educational displays to engage visitors of all ages and provide valuable information about the animals, ecosystems, and conservation efforts.
- Technology upgrades: Purchasing Apple laptops, iPads, desktops, and mobile devices to improve guest interaction, streamline operations, and enhance educational displays.
- Aquarium systems and water quality technology: Finalizing the installation of filtration systems, water management equipment, and other specialized technologies needed to ensure the aquariums are safe and sustainable for the animals.
- Facility maintenance and safety equipment: Upgrading safety equipment, including surveillance systems, fire safety protocols, and accessibility accommodations for all guests.
