About the Scholarship Fund
The Buckethead-Balloon-Nosed Children of Destiny Scholarship Fund was started to honor the memory and continue the legacy of Mr. Brian Keith Jones, beloved educator, student advocate, loved one, and friend. Mr. Jones lovingly referred to his students as “Buckethead-Balloon-Nosed Children of Destiny.” That name captures the whimsical spirit with which he captivated and empowered them and the larger communities he served.
In that spirit, some of his Jennings High School students have launched, with the support and permission of Mr. Jones' family, the inaugural "Children of Destiny" $1,500 scholarship. It will be awarded to one Jennings High School senior or alumnus accepted/enrolled in a college drama/theatre arts/arts education program.
UPDATE: We have now surpassed our $1,500 goal and and are in the process of securing funds for a second scholarship. We will begin accepting applications (tentatively) on February 15, 2021. All proceeds (minus transactional fees charged by GoFundMe) will go directly to the scholarship winner(s).
Proposed Scholarship Timeline
February 15 (tentative): Begin accepting applications
May 1: Application deadline
July 1: Announce scholarship winner
