Brian Knefelkamp Medical Expenses

Hello, my name is Charlie Scholfield and I am raising money on behalf of my Dad, Brian Knefelkamp.

On March 17, 2024 in the early morning hours, my Dad Brian Knefelkamp pulled

over to park his semi for the night. He is an over the road truck driver for FCC in Nebraska and was driving in Arizona. He called my Mom, Melinda Knefelkamp, and told her he was not feeling well and wanted to take medicine and lay down. Melinda told him no he needed to call 911, that she believed something was seriously wrong. Brian called 911 and they located him in the rest area. Paramedics told Brian that he was having a heart attack and took him to a local hospital where he was life flighted from shortly after. He was sent to the hospital in Prescott AZ and shortly after arriving had emergency heart surgery.

Brian had a complete blockage of his LAD, this is what people refer to as a “Widow Maker.” While in Brian’s heart they also discovered that he has at least 3 more blockages and damage to the tissue of his heart. He needs to have another heart surgery but they have to let him rest and make sure he is stable.

I am asking for everyone’s help to get myself and my mom down to Arizona to be with my father. We need flights down there, hotel fees and many other expenses. Then once my father is stable we will need to be able to transport him home safely via airplane as the drive back would be too long for him to safely travel. My father is the main income in his household so not only will he have a lot of medical expenses, but he still has his everyday life expenses as well. All proceeds will go to my Dad and Mom and helping cover these expenses and supporting him on his recovery and through his cardiac rehab.

My mom and I just made it to the hotel here in Prescott. Visiting hours are over so we will head to the hospital in the morning. I will continue to post updates as things develop.

We got to the hospital around 7:30am and shortly after arriving my Dad had a secondary cardiac event. He was given nitro, and the other heart medications he’s been on since his first surgery. They did new labs and discovered he was beginning to retain fluid on his heart. They gave him some IV diuretic which helped but shortly after that his blood pressure bottomed out. They said this is due to the damage in his heart and the tissue death so his heart is struggling to maintain normal pressures. They adjusted some medications and his blood pressure came back up to near normal levels. They are still planning on doing a second surgery Wednesday unless he continues to be symptomatic then they may go in sooner.
