Brian Lizer Memorial Fund

It is with a heavy heart that we share the unexpected passing of Brian Lizer (46) on Tuesday, August 23rd. Brian was a strong kayaker and a strong swimmer. He was attempting to kayak across the Knik River to retrieve his airboat that had drifted downriver from where it was tied up near Knik Glacier when he ran into trouble and his kayak overturned. His body was found Saturday, August 27th, near Wolf Point by a private pilot after an exhaustive 4-day long search by friends, family, and authorities.
Brian was one of a kind - genuine, fearless, kind, loving, strong and mischievous in spirit. He cared deeply for his family and friends - he was solid, immovable, and steadfast in his character, love, and generosity for his people but most importantly, in his role as husband to Cedar, and father to Dalton (27) and his wife Jordan along with their two sons Levi and Clyde, Haro (10), and Clover (5).
Cedar and her children are reeling from the unexpected loss, grappling with an uncertain future and what it will look like and how it will function without Brian in it. Brian and Cedar were a team - business owners, co-parents, and property owners. Most recently, they invested significantly into their business, taking out loans with big plans for the future. Without Brian, Cedar is left with the sole responsibility of the company, childcare and all the financial burdens. The family needs as much help as possible to help cover funeral and cremation costs, to create space for the family to decide a course of action for the future of the business, their children’s futures, for childcare, and for time to grieve without the overwhelming stress of ‘how are we going to pay our bills’ looming in the wings.
It is in times of sadness and great loss when community can come together to help those in need make it through. Any support you may be able to provide to the family during this immense loss and time of sadness and grief would be of immeasurable significance. Please keep Brian’s wife, children and family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you in advance for your loving kindness.
