Brian McClusky Medical Fundraiser

Hello Friends,

I write this with some trepidation, but also out of necessity. After enjoying nearly half a century of good health, I have been struggling with a series of illnesses since last December, beginning with pneumonia and impacting various areas/systems of my body from the respiratory to the gastrointestinal. Though I have been receiving excellent medical care, recovery has been slow and tenuous and my employer (a healthcare organization no less) ended my employment once they legally could, when I was not medically cleared to return to work.

I applied for Unemployment but it has been pending for 4 months and the state of MA can’t seem to provide an update on the delay. There are longer-term disability options (SSDI, etc.) but these can take months to even years for approval. In the meantime, I have been hospitalized roughly 1 week out of every month and am unable to yet return to full-time employment. I am behind on my bills, can’t afford essential items and have out-of-pocket medical expenses accruing.

As I approach my 50th birthday this weekend, I am trying to remain hopeful about my recovery and the future but remain weighed down by financial stress. I have always taken pride in my financial independence but I know people sometimes ask for contributions to causes for their birthdays and this year, I really need the help myself. If you can donate any amount, it would be massively appreciated.
