Brian Morris Battles Leukemia
Donation protected
As many of you may know, Brian and Amy Morris were taken by complete surprise with Brian’s diagnosis of Hairy Cell Leukemia (HCL) this past September. Brian had a lot of vague but persistent symptoms, and ultimately presented with a dangerously low hemoglobin level. This spiraled quickly into a hospital admission, countless tests, and several blood transfusions. His diagnosis of HCL was confirmed with a bone marrow biopsy and his treatment began in early October with daily chemotherapy.
Brian has had several complications from chemotherapy, including another hospital stay. He has also required multiple transfusions of red blood cells and platelets to stabilize his counts. Brian’s next step of treatment will consist of weekly immunotherapy for a duration of 8 weeks, which he hopes to begin later this month.
It is expected that Brian will be unable to work for another 6-9 months while he completes his treatment and recovery. Many people have asked what they can do to help, so the decision was made to create this fundraiser in hopes of offsetting the cost of some of Brian’s medical bills, especially during the time that he’s off from work.
Brian, Amy, and their family are genuinely appreciative of the support thus far, and ask for continued prayers for his health.
This GoFundMe is being hosted, with permission, by Becky Baron & Brianne Bergman on behalf of Brian and Amy Morris. All donations will go directly to them.
Hairy Cell Leukemia is a rare blood cancer, with only 1200-1300 new cases in the US each year. HCL is highly treatable but rarely cured. You can read more about HCL here: https://www.lls.org/leukemia/hairy-cell-leukemia
