Brian O'Sullivan's Lymphoma Journey

Donation protected
Our friend Brian O’Sullivan was diagnosed with a rare form of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May of 2021 called Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

Finally in February of 2022 he was able to start treatment after 3 plans for him were denied by his insurance company. Brian doesn’t know which is worse battling lymphoma or the insurance company.

Brian is now in the 2nd cycle of treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and responding well. The third cycle of treatment will start March 31st and a new medicine will be introduced and the doses will be stronger and stronger. Brian will
be moving temporarily up North as the treatments will be more intense.

Now that he is being seen by his 4th oncologist, and as a result of the insurance company fighting him, he has unpaid medical expenses stacking up fast.

The last time he showed me his insurance report, it showed $30,000 of medical expenses(so far)that the insurance companies have refused to pay so far. We have convinced him to stop looking at the financial section of his Insurance app.

Brian has always been one who doesn’t ask for help for himself, but has raised money in the past for Special Olympics New Jersey for years, and successfully ran a fund raiser for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center last month for his birthday on Facebook.

Most of Brian’s work is with the public, and since his immune system is wonky, the less time he spends with the public, the better it is for him. He is also looking to do some work from home.

We’ve convinced Brian that his full time job now is to beat Lymphoma, and not to worry about the financial stressors right now as that will make his stress and anxiety even worse.

Since Brian won’t ask for help, a group of friends he grew up with are. If you can help at all, that would be awesome and will alleviate some pressure from him. Please share with others also.

Brian has told us now that as soon as he beats this illness he is ready to become a hands on advocate for those who are struggling with insurance companies like he is. Thank you so much❤️ Please share this fundraiser.
