Help Brian Blakley kick Cancer's butt!

Cancer sucks and no one should have to fight it alone or be financially burdened while doing so. Sadly, the reality of this relentless tyrant and the intrusive process to fight it, have become the recent truth for my dad (aka Brian, Grampa UBER).
Last fall a routine blood test showed irregularities that his Doctor was concerned with. Results from further testing confirmed in February that it was Multiple Myeloma. Due to his good health, it went undetected without symptoms and as a result, has built up heavily throughout his body. In the same sense, because of his otherwise good health, he has been told that they feel he should respond well to treatment, though it will be aggressive to try and get into remission. There is no cure for this form of Cancer but if he responds well to treatments, there is strong hope he will not only survive this but thrive for many years to come!
He has already completed 3 treatments of Chemo from his schedule of three to four months of weekly treatments in Penticton. This is then to be followed up with six to eight weeks of Stem Cell Transplant treatment in Vancouver, where he will be on a maintenance plan to monitor and respond to any signs of cancer activity for the rest of his life.
The Canadian cancer system seems well-funded and most costs are covered. However,
those that are not will be the travel costs to and from Vancouver, plus the accommodation for 2+ months while down there. I have created this page to hopefully alleviate my dad of the financial strain he will be challenged with while he focuses on his treatments. The truth is, my dad's diagnosis came shortly after the misfortunate loss of his main source of income. It was something he had no control over and was no fault of his own, and it was supposed to allow him to start enjoying retirement. The unpleasant hardships from this loss had already taken quite a toll on him, before receiving this recent additional blow to his financial livelihood.
My dad is one of those people that wouldn't think twice about giving his shirt off his back to help others and has always donated generously, including to GoFundMe for other people.
I am hoping to raise enough to help cover the travel expenses, accommodation costs and to help make up for the loss of potential income over the next 3-6 months, or more.
I am not ignorant of the fact that many others have found themselves or their loved ones in this unfair battle; nor of the fact that fundraising pages are endless these days. It is hard to imagine or believe a situation like this will happen to one of your parents- especially when they have led a very active and healthy lifestyle. Nonetheless, here I find myself..... so I will not sugarcoat the fact that this is 100% the desperate plea of a daughter who strongly believes her dad will always be strong enough to fight the big, bad monsters away.
No amount is too small or too little. If you can help in any way, it will be making a huge difference.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Even if it is simply you helping to share this link as much as you can or offering him words of kindness!
Much love,
Terril
