There is a quote from Judge Sol Wachtler that says "If a District Attorney wanted, a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich." A District Attorney gets to decide what evidence gets presented to a grand jury and what evidence doesn't get presented. There is no defense attorney present during a grand jury presentation and the standard of proof is a low one - only that probable cause exists to believe a crime has been committed. The District Attorney is the gatekeeper and the person supposedly seeking justice - not just a conviction or a headline. District Attorneys have so much influence on a grand jury that the District Attorney could get the grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.
Brian Gullett is in a position of trying to come up with money to defend himself against the government which has unlimited resources and he needs our help.
The days of the rich doctor are long gone. Brian Gullett is no different. He was in the process of rebuilding his life following a traumatic divorce and prolonged custody battle for the right to see his daughter, Molly, when these indictments against him were filed. Brian Gullett has already paid his entire savings and retirement to his attorney and it is not near enough to cover his legal fees. His personal contribution to his legal defense has already been more than $50,000, yet much more will be needed.
In the United States, one is innocent until proven guilty...however, due to this indictment, Brian Gullett has lost the ability to work as a physician. The government limited his licensing as a physician in a way that makes him totally unable to work. So, by the mere implication of wrongdoing, Brian Gullett has been forced into unemployment.
This is why Brian needs your help. Those that know him know that Brian Gullett is a good man, a good father, and a good doctor. He has always been one for working hard and helping anyone he can. It is time we help Brian.
