Hello! My name is Crystal Blackburn. My husband Brian and I have been married 19 years and have two teenage daughters. Brian has Chronic Seizure Disorder which caused him to loose his job as an electronics technician in 2003. Brian has done fairly well up until the last 2 years. In December of 2014, he received a call to change to this new and improved insurance. I wasnt home when he talked with them. It changed everything!! Leaving us with new copays, they didnt use his doctors, long list. However, Brian should have not been the one changing this due to his comprhension levels. Last February he had to have his Vagal Nerve Stimulator (pace maker for the brain) replaced due to a huge increase in seizure activity. Brian was averaging 7-12 seizures (visible) everyday. Once we had this completed, seizures slowed down, but not what we were hoping for. Brian was in and out of the hospital several times throughout the year. His most recent in October, November and December. After many test, ct scans, lumbar punctures and other procedures, his neurologist has referred him back to a neuro surgeon for recommended shunt replacement. I work as a Children's and Youth Minstry Director and also held down a second d job until his illness. With the loss of the second job our extra income has hurt. Right now, we need to pay off the last neurosurgeon bill before they will see him again. I am not one to ask for help, however, my husband needs this surgery. Brian averages 8 seizures a day. These are the noticeable ones. He can't stay out of bed due to the Chronic headaches he keeps. Brian is my sweetheart and I would do anything to have him some relief! He is a good father and husband, but not only that he's my best friend. Thank you so much for any support or prayers you can offer!!
