Brianna Leigh-Pink Medical Expenses
Hi, I’m Bri, and let me thank you for taking the time to read this as I know it is a bit lengthy, even if you’re unable to donate I appreciate you taking the time!
This past year I was faced with multiple health issues that spiraled quickly leading to multiple surgeries, hospital stays, specialists visits, and medications. It began with pelvic pain over months that led to an exploratory laparoscopic procedure on May 5th for endometriosis, however, on May 7th I ended up back in the hospital with a fever and a heart rate of 150. After they ran tests I was diagnosed with a perforation (hole) in my intestine, a bowel obstruction, and a staph infection that was all over the inside of my stomach. They tried antibiotics and a tube to drain the obstruction but unfortunately, the damage was done and led to an emergent abdominal surgery on May 9th leaving me with 40 staples down my stomach and a hospital stay until May 19th. I then went home with an IV in my arm for antibiotics for another week.
Into June I started feeling better until I began having multiple pains in my stomach and back along with difficulty eating and breathing. I was then hospitalized again for a week due to my gallbladder being enlarged, infected, and inflamed. I was put through antibiotics treatments again and more tests to figure out how to manage the pain as surgery was not possible this close to my prior surgery because my body was just not strong enough. Trying to see a Gastroenterologist to try to address why I am in pain on a daily basis due to the repercussions of the prior surgery.
Also, I have been recovering from an ankle reconstructive surgery I had done in July 2020 due to an injury I had at work, I have been unable to get back to work since then and am currently waiting on a second surgery to repair tendons that weren’t repaired the first time which has further prevented me from getting back on my feet (pun intended).
I recently graduated in May as well with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and although I am infinitely grateful and blessed to have been able to finish before all of this happened, my student loan payments are also becoming a factor in the finances.
I am happy to be on the road to recovery but I am falling further and further into financial hardships with the medical treatments and medications as well as student loan payments, I am trying my hardest to get back on my feet and make ends meet but I could really use a hand.
I truly appreciate any and all help, thank you for taking the time to read my journey!
