Brianna's Kidney Transplant at Cleveland Clinic
Hello everyone,
My best friend Brianna Digiacomo has been battling Polycystic kidney disease since birth. In 2015, she was blessed to be able to receive her first kidney transplant from a loved one. About 2 years after, Brianna's kidney began to reject. Brianna spent the next couple of years trialing multiple attempts to halt the rejection, unfortunately, these attempts were unsuccessful. Today, Brianna has to attend dialysis 3 times weekly, this has started to take a large toll on her health and ability to function day to day. Recently, she traveled to the Cleveland Clinic to receive another opinion. At this point, Brianna was unsure if she would qualify for a second transplant, luckily, she was told otherwise. Brianna will be added back to the National Kidney Foundation transplant list. Upon receiving her transplant, the Cleveland Clinic requires patients to have the funds to stay locally for 6 weeks following the transplant. This operation and process are extremely costly and with Brianna's inability to work as frequently as she would like to due to health complications, it will be difficult for her to afford. Any contribution made will be put towards a place to stay following her transplant, all traveling fees/living expenses during this time, copays, and whatever other costs arise during this transition. Brianna is the most giving person I know, so please contribute whatever you can and share her story.
We will also be hosting an in-person fundraising event at Coyote Cafe in Hamburg, NY on Sunday, September 26th beginning at noon. Tickets will be sold for $25 and include one margarita/well drink and one food item.
Although we are so happy that Brianna has been accepted onto the transplant waitlist. This can be an extensive process and wait for donors. If you or anyone you know is willing to be a donor for my lovely friend Brianna, please let us know.
Brianna's blood type is O negative
