Brian Plainte's Liver Fund

Donation protected
My name is Kelley Henry. I am creating this fund to help my sister, Tania Perry, and her fiance Brian Plainte. Tania and Brian were engaged last year on Christmas Eve. They have been together for almost 9 years. They have a home together in Townsend, Ma and a 6 year old daughter named Isabel. Tania also has an 11 year old son from a previous marriage, Matthew, who adores Brian.

Soon after their engagement, Brian's and Tania's lives began to unravel. Their home sustained severe water damage and mold was found. They were quickly moved into a hotel. At first they were told they would only be out of the home for a week or two. That time turned into two and a half months. A lot of their expenses were covered by insurance, but not all of them. At the same time, Brian's health began to fail. He went to the doctor with symptoms of weight loss, loss of muscle mass, little to no urination, loss of appetite, vomiting, and several others. He was sent away with a prescription for anxiety medication and told to drink more water, it must be stress and dehydration. Six weeks later Brian returned to the doctor. His symptoms had worsened significantly, he had lost more weight, and he was jaundiced. After several months of testing and a few hospital admissions, Brian was told his liver was failing. He has a diagnosis of Cryptogenic Liver Cirrhosis. He has lost over 60 pounds and some days can not walk up the stairs. He is now going through the process of being placed on a liver transplant list. He also has the option of a partial liver from a live donor. Brian's choices now are to wait until a liver is available in Massachusetts, find a live donor, or go to Florida where he will be higher on the list (than in Massachusetts) based on his symptoms. The best scenario is to relocate Brian to Florida, as he will receive a liver much sooner than in Massachusetts. All of these options are expensive.
Brian has not worked in over a year. He is working to get on disability, but that will take another 3-6 months. Tania was laid off from her job as an Occupational Therapist in April 2015. She began a new position soon after, but the hours are not full time. Recently, her hours were further shortened. They have had a lot of support from family and friends. I am hoping this fund will further help them through this difficult time and help Brian to get a liver so he can begin to recover. The money will be used to cover bills related to medical costs, relocation for Brian to Florida, costs to cover expenses of a donor, child care costs, and paying their bills to keep the heat and electricity on and to help them pay their mortgage. Your contribution to this fund is so appreciated. Isabel is 6, she is too young to lose her father. Matthew would be devastated to lose Brian as he sees him as a second father. Please consider helping Brian, Tania and their children through this difficult time. The sooner we are able to raise this money, the sooner Brian can have a transplant and begin to recover. Thank you again for your kindness and considering to support this fund.
