Briarwood Residents Storm Relief

Hurricane Matthew is past us, but the road to recovery is looonnnnng and will be expensive.  Thank you in advance if you are able to make a contribution to keep these people in their homes.  Here is our story...

We are a community of 55+ residents in Port Orange, FL.  During the recent hurricane Matthew, 103 of our 332 manufactured homes were damaged.  Of those,  97 are Priority 1 and Priority 2 damage: they completely lost a carport and/or attached room, or sustained severe roof damage.  10 homes were completely destroyed.

Everyone at the community has come together and has worked hard to keep our residents safe and tarp the roofs to keep the rain from permanently destroying more homes.

Since the majority of our residents are on a fixed income, it will be a severe hardship, and for some an impossibility, to make their home livable again. For many, this is the last residence they may have and they are in danger of losing it, or have lost it already.  Most of the residents do not have insurance due to the cost of the premiums.

As we age, often our options for resources can be few. That is why we have established a GoFundMe account for the good people of Briarwood.

Our goal is to help all of our residents in need. Keep them from losing their home, or having to move in with relatives, or live in constant anxiety about how they will pay for needed repairs.

ALL the money raised will go to our residents.  Your generosity will help them save their homes so that they may have a safe haven to live out the rest of their lives.
 
We know there are many, many ways to help and contribute in the world.  We hope you will find it in your heart to help the wonderful people of Briarwood.
