Help People Access Healthcare in the Cost of Living Crisis
NAZ is raising funds to cover basic access costs for our clients struggling in the Cost-of-Living Crisis.
The Naz Project is a community-led charity dedicated to addressing health and healthcare inequalities of Black, Brown, and Global Majority communities. We have 33 years of experience providing culturally-specific interventions across London and the UK, focusing on communities disproportionately impacted by poor HIV outcomes. We offer STI/reproductive health screenings, individual/couples/group counselling, peer support groups, classes, and more.
The Cost-of-Living Crisis has disproportionately affected Black, Brown, and Global Majority communities, and within these groups, LGBTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV are shouldering the heaviest burden.
For people living with HIV, the financial strain is exacerbating existing challenges related to health management and stigma. Many face higher costs of living due to increased healthcare needs, such as regular medication, routine check-ups, and transportation to medical appointments, especially to those without access to Public Funds. Access to nutritious food, which is vital for maintaining health and managing HIV, is becoming harder to afford. Additionally, social isolation caused by both the pandemic and the rising cost of living has intensified mental health issues among people living with HIV, who already experience multiple levels of discrimination and marginalisation.
Without adequate support, these vulnerable groups risk worsening health outcomes and further isolation. Through our work, NAZ seeks to ensure that people living with HIV have access to the resources and support they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives during this difficult time.
