Chido's story
My name is Chido Matambo a Catholic and a business finance woman.l am 27 years old from Harare ,Zimbabwe . lts funny how the situation started, l was a finance assistant at 1911 ventures going to work as usual with daily routine of looking after my family and doing household chores. In March 2023 whilst doing household duties as usual, I lifted a 20 litre bucket of water and l felt a sharp pain at the middle of my back.l couldn't manage to walk properly because of the pain l was feeling. I managed to seek medical input from a local hospital.I was prescribed painkillers to cope with the excruciating pain I was feeling. This helped as I was able to function as usual living independently.l didn't realise that I had a cracked bone. The pain resurfaced with more intensity .The severity of the injury was discovered when l went for scans and x-rays .l was informed that l have a back injury and my ( T10 &T12) which mainly means that I have massive cracks that needs to be repaired.
Due to this injury it has affected my mobility and flexibility in my everyday life . Its been 5 months now, I am surviving on pain killers and heat rubs everyday and l am always in bed. I am either in bed or seated .I had to live my job because l was no longer able to report to work everyday due to back pain. The back injury has affected my career, social life and all the church activities that l was partaking. This injury has brought sadness and more stress in my society and family because everyone is really worried of how it transpired and my mobility.Due to social isolation and being dependent on others and at times personal care it has made me depressed and tearful with unending pain daily.I have exhausted all my savings and support from family for medical bills. My situation could get better with a major surgery which will improve my life and the community. The doctors are assuring me that the protruding bone can be correct with surgery.
My church friends suggested that we should open go fund me page as a way of helping me to raise money for the surgery.Due to economic and social difficulties in Zimbabwe with your support I have no chance of recovery as everything is private funded. We have sold all what we could to fund medical expenses.
I am appealing for your help as I know any amount given will support me to raise the required amount which translates to about £12000.whoever is reading this is my only hope in life.
The doctors have said that the surgery needs to be done urgently otherwise I will not have any chance of recovery.I never thought money would determine my life to this extent. My injury can only get better with your support.I feel helps on my own.
