Thank you for helping B.R.I.D.G.E Theatre Project, a global arts education nonprofit, raise the funds to work with children in Rwanda!
THANKS TO ALL who have contributed and helped us spread the word! ... If you still want to donate and be part of a global movement - to bring kids together all around the world through theatre - PLEASE GIVE! You may now make a tax-deductible donation via our website at bridgetheatre.org/donate.htm - Contributions will be applied directly to our mission-driven work, and it goes WAY deeper than theatre. Our programs encourage self-expression, foster self-confidence, promote cultural tolerance, expand world views and perspectives, and explore solutions to community problems. (Yep, theatre really can do all that.)
Gratitude Abounding,
The B.R.I.D.G.E Rwanda Team

WHO WE ARE
B.R.I.D.G.E Theatre Project stands for "Building Relationships and Inspiring Dialogue through Global Exchange." Our mission is to educate, inspire, and connect young people around the globe through intensive theatre education programs. By helping youth share their voices with different cultures, B.R.I.D.G.E aims to resolve conflict through theatre and promote peace through shared experiences. To accomplish this goal, youth participants collaboratively write their own plays and perform in plays written by B.R.I.D.G.E participants from other communities across the globe. These youth-written original plays are then taken abroad to be performed at a future B.R.I.D.G.E program in another country.
In the fall of 2011, B.R.I.D.G.E Theatre Project traveled to the city of Milagro in Ecuador, South America, bringing plays from the United States for the children at Escuela Particular #54 to perform. In February 2013, plays written by the youth participants in Ecuador were taken to Asia in Kathmandu, Nepal. In partnership with SPACE (Search for Identity), the Ecuadorian plays were performed by students at Balbyabasee and Mahendra Bouddha Secondary Schools.
THIS PROJECT
In Rwanda, we will be partnering with Mashirika Performing Arts and Media Company, a theatre organization based in Kigali. We will take plays created by students in the USA (from Lynwood, CA), Nepal, and Ecuador for the Rwandan children to perform in the international Ubumuntu Arts Festival, where artist-educators from B.R.I.D.G.E and Mashirika will also perform the original work written by the students in Rwanda. In addition to our playwriting and acting program, we will participate in a series of professional development workshops with the Mashirika team, sharing our pedagogies and learning the unique aspects of one another's culture and artistic approach.

THE IMPACT
Art has played a crucial role in tackling Rwanda’s immense post-genocide challenges. This partnership will give Rwandan children a chance to creatively voice their experiences, while connecting them to youth from other parts of the globe. The Ubumuntu Arts Festival was created to help solve the challenges in Rwanda and other countries traumatized by war and indiscriminate killings. Ubumuntu's slogan is, “I am because you are, you are because I am: we are human together.” The festival occurs annually following the last week of the 100 days commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
