Bridget's Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mason and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my mum Bridget, who has recently been diagnosed with a life limiting lung disease. I am wanting to raise money so I can take her on trips or weekends away around the UK so she can explore and see everything she wants to in the time she has. She’d also like to visit Southern Ireland as she was adopted and has ancestry there and would love to explore that.
My mum’s life has never been easy, and I would love to be able to treat her in the time that she has left. Please continue to read for info on my mum’s life previously.
The last time my mum went on a holiday was when I was 6 and I am now 31, we went after the suicides of my brother and father (her son and husband) both 18 months apart. My brother had severe Crohn’s disease that started in childhood, he committed suicide when he was 26 (in 1997) because of the severe and debilitating pain he was in and the several operations he had to endure. Eventually he was told there was nothing more they could do and he would die prematurely, so he decided to take his own life. My mother found him dead in bed one morning after he took a huge overdose of the anti-depressant clomipramine. 18 months later, she found my dad hanging from my bedroom door, she cut him down and performed CPR, but it was too late. That left my mum, my older sister and me. She had to single handedly raise us, who have long standing trauma based mental health issues due to the loss of our dad and brother. These issues include severe anorexia and debilitating OCD. My mum was also primary carer to my sister’s 5 children (2 of which are autistic) as my sister became too unwell to care for them. She continued to do this until she was hospitalised with severe pneumonia and became too ill to continue looking after them. Also, about 2 years ago, she was also diagnosed with breast cancer which was treated with a lumpectomy and radiation. It’s quite possible that either the cancer itself or the radiation treatment is the cause of her lung disease. She also had basal cell carcinoma which was treated with an operation to remove the cancerous tissue.
As I said, my mum’s life hasn’t been easy and I’d just love to be able to help her fulfil some of her wishes with the help of your donations before she’s too unwell to do so.
Thank you,
Bridget, Mason and Briony
We hugely appreciate any money that is donated. If you’re not able to donate, please share so that this is seen by as many people as possible.
