Bridging the Gap - Food Pantry Project
Donation protected
Giving Back is part of the Motion culture. Community Service is embedded into our Impact Team program. The Mi West Group Impact Teams will be getting together for the first time, in-person, to conclude their 18-month program. We want part of our celebration to incorporate this giving-back element. We are partnering with Catholic Community Services (CCS) to assist with their food pantry need related to low-income students in need.
Bridging the Gap is a mobile food distribution program that visits low-income elementary schools in Weber and Ogden School Districts each Thursday and Friday. Students are given two bags of healthy, easy-to-prepare meals, and snacks sustain them through the weekend.
Some schools we serve have very high rates of free & reduced meal enrollment, which makes our traditional means of distribution very effective: Every student in every class comes through our mobile distribution line to receive two bags of food. This also removes the stigma of being ‘low-income’ since every student receives them.
For schools that have lower enrollment rates, we use pantry packs. The packs can be easily and discreetly placed in the student’s backpack, which allows the schools to be selective about the students who receive the assistance while still maintaining their dignity.
Donations will go toward purchasing items needed to create Pantry Pack:
