Briggs Boys Recovery

Just before midnight on Father’s Day, a fire started on the upper floor of John’s home where 12 year old Grayson and 16 year old Owen were asleep. It appears to have been caused by an air conditioning unit explosion. Owen awoke and bravely alerted John & Grayson. Grayson was trapped in his room due to the location of the fire while John and Owen fought to save him with the help of their amazing neighbors.

Both Grayson and Owen were intubated in the ICU at Children’s. Owen recovered well and was discharged Tuesday evening.

Grayson is an amazing fighter and has a long recovery road ahead. We are so thankful to the amazing staff at Children’s who are working so hard to help him heal. He has burns covering 70% of his body. He is heavily sedated to allow him time to rest and heal. He is getting daily bronchoscopies to clean his lungs. Mom & Dad can touch the top of his head and the bottoms of his feet. Monday night he opened his eyes for his Dad. Tuesday morning he was able to shake his head yes/no to questions. We appreciate everyone’s support and will use CaringBridge to update everyone on his progress:
(Please note- Caring Bridge is transitioning to a new site- if you have an old account, you may need to create a new one on the updated site)

Update 7/3/34: Item donations are not needed at this time, but prayers, good thoughts and positive vibes are very much appreciated!
