Amahoro!
The Bright Burundi Scholarship (BBS) is a project established to provide university scholarships to students in Burundi. It was established by a group of Master’s students in International Development with the support of Sciences Po (Paris).
What is our aim?
Our aim is to empower Burundian high school graduates to actively participate in shaping their society according to their visions.
How are we doing this?
We will be providing full academic scholarships (including tuition fees, living costs & housing) to Burundian students for the duration of their first academic degree in Burundi (B.A. or equivalent). The main criteria to be selected for the BBS is the scholar's strive to improve Burundian society as an agent for change. Our scholars will work on a concrete social project which will be realized by them during or after their university education. For this purpose, additional short-term and need-based support will be provided and long-term dependencies will be eliminated.
Who will be supported?
Our scholars won’t be able to finance their studies in Burundi without financial support. BBS will be need-based.
Our scholars have a vision on how to ameliorate their society and are motivated to make a difference. BBS will be given to change-agents.
Our scholars are academically well-deserving and have proven to be able to successfully complete a university education. BBS empowers visions.
Who are we?
We are Arielle from Hong Kong , Anushree, Shriya and Snehadeep from India, Hannah from the U.S. and Joy from South Korea. All of us are currently pursuing our Master’s degrees from the Paris School of International Affairs, Sciences Po. Last year, together with our partner in Germany, burundikids e.V., and in Burundi, Fondation Stamm, BBS was established by a group of Sciences Po students with the support of Sciences Po.
Our cooperation partners have years of experience with educational projects in Burundi and they support the BBS team in every aspect.
We meet on a weekly basis to take the necessary steps towards the project's implementation and to organize fundraising events in Paris.

Our story: How it all began?
One of our BBS management team members, Fabian, had spent six months in Burundi, gaining professional experience in educational projects as an intern at the UNESCO. Throughout his stay, his Burundian friends have repeatedly asked for support in finding scholarships for university education. As a result, he was determined to get involved. Together with Fondation Stamm and Students Without Borders, the idea for BBS was born.
