Saving Haji: Bring Endangered Afghan to America
Donation protected
Hello,
I am a Marine Corps infantry veteran raising funds to help facilitate bringing our Afghan translator and his family to America. Haji worked with both the Marines and the Army as an interpreter. He lived with us in 2011 for 8 months, in very tough conditions on a small patrol base in Helmand Province Afghanistan. He went on all patrols and combat missions to facilitate communications with the locals, as well as translate communication amongst the Taliban. He risked his life to provide America assistance in it's mission in Afghanistan, and now he and his family are in constant danger of retaliation as US forces withdraw and Taliban activity increases.
The path to bring Haji to America is a very rigorous one. It requires him to travel to a larger city to obtain passports for his entire family. Then we must get him to a 3rd country for an undetermined amount of time (12-18 months) while his application is processed. Your contribution will GREATLY help support Haji and his family as they began this tough journey. Thank you for your time, and any donation you are able to make.
HOW will YOUR money be used? It is currently paying for safe lodging, food and water keeping Haji's wife and young children out of the chaotic and dangerous crowds you see on TV. It paid for their safe passage into Kabul. Once we get Haji and his family OUT of Afghanistan, we must sustain them for 12-18 months while their application is processed. After that, we must get them all flights to America. At which point, we will use all remaining funds to get them housing, clothing, food, school supplies for the children, and also hopefully pay for professional help with culture immersion, as that will be a great challenge down the line. THANK YOU!!!!
