Bring Agnieszka to the One USA Doctor She Needs
Tax deductible
Agnieszka is 25 years old now, having entered medical school in Poland at a top university, with tuition paid for by the Polish government. She just graduated from her university in Poland as a Doctor of Medicine in May despite her eye disease. And then what?
She has her 13-month training working in a clinic hospital coming up next. Due to her severe eye pain, burning sensations, sensations of something being in her eye, sensitivity to light, grittiness and dry eyes, it brings into question if she can be in this stage of her career or complete it given the disease issues. Her biggest goal in medicine is to find a better solution and treatment for patients like her.
She has been to 15 or 20 European ophthalmologists who have tried all the therapies available to them for Dry Eye Disease (DED) and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). If we don’t get her to the USA to a world-class opthalmologist who specializes in DED and MGD to be evaluated and receive proper treatment that other doctors in Europe decline to do with her, then her career is probably over before it starts.
Since January of 2022, Agnieszka has been to ophthalmology DED and MGD specialists all over Europe with none of their efforts helping. Her eye disease began in 2021 from being prescribed for acne, the drug isotretinoin (common brand names for the drug are Absorica, Absorica LD, Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, Myorisan, Sotret, Zenatane) that damaged her eyes. One can imagine the frustration for her and the costs to only get no benefits.
Her last hope for reversal of this chronic and progressive disease is to get to the USA for evaluation and treatment that is not available to her in Europe via a world-class DED doctor. If we don’t rescue Agnieszka, we not only condemn her to a life of pain, but we lose the great good she could do as a medical doctor in Poland over her lifetime.
We deeply appreciate your support for our medical fundraiser for Agnieszka to bring her to the USA doctor she needs. Maybe you have noticed that this newly graduated doctor’s face is not being shown although you hear her voice. Her last name is not being used. We wanted to let you know that the decision to not use the doctor’s last name and show her face is due to career considerations and possible damage to her future professional prospects if we did.
