Aid LVIV Ukraine& Evacuate RefugeeKids with Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dr. Courtney Orynich Gillenwater, and I have spent the last 7 years volunteering as a physician M.D. in humanitarian aid and disaster relief medicine - the majority of which has been in service of underserved & vulnerable populations and refugee children.
✨✨✨I am going into LVIV, UKRAINE on March 30th, 2022 and I invite you to consider joining in support of my efforts to ✨bring in medical supply donations, perform a ✨Medical Needs Assessment for future follow up trips, and to provide medical supplies & help ✨evacuate Ukrainian refugee war orphans and children with cancer✨✨✨
I will start with assessments on how to support some of the most vulnerable patients in Lviv, the pediatric Ukrainian refugee patients being cared for by the Zaporuka Foundation for Ukrainian Children with Cancer
(Zaporuka used to be based out of Kyiv, and - since the invasion - they have had to relocate their operational headquarters, patients, and patient's families to Lviv)
...more details to come!
I will also be highlighting the efforts of humanitarian relief aid organizations and NGO's, local government entities, independent volunteers, and any unsung heroes who I encounter and in whom I determine that I can personally trust - because I will therefore be able to share their stories with any other generous benefactors out there who are looking for a *trusted* relief aid effort to support.
For those of you who I have not had the chance to meet yet, Hi! and thank you for your time - and please allow me to inform you that I have spent the majority of the past 7 years doing this kind of volunteer work:
including my most recent efforts volunteering as a first responder at Columbia University's COVID19 Field Hospital in NYC in the Bronx, in March/April 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic; shortly after I had returned stateside from helping set up a Children's Orphanage Clinic for Hurricane survivor victims in the Bahamas.
I have also volunteered and/or set up disaster zone/makeshift clinics in:
- India at Bhutan border for Operation Smile International (helping lay foundation for the Guwahati Comprehensive Cleft Care Center, in Assam, India) in 2011-2012
- Nepal after 7.9 earthquake (where I was running a clinic during the second earthquake 7.7) in 2015
- Greek islands as member of Lifeguard Hellas refugee sea rescue team between EU/Turkey, from 2015-2017
- northern Greek border riot zones while working with multiple multinational government sector entities, in addition to serving as medical team leader (one of 4 international physicians) treating undocumented refugee patients, and any other humans in need in unofficial refugee camps/ human trafficking routes, from 2015-2017
- Thessaloníki with Team Rubicon Global: I was the physician who helped obtain Greek government/ministry of health/ministry of interior and UNHCR approvals as their liaison on the ground overseas helping to design and establish a privately funded Refugee Center Medical Clinic, in 2017
- Representative of U.S. Goodwill towards Refugees and Asylum Seekers to the Parliamentary Assembly of Mediterranean - as the only American at their Annual International Migration Conference hosting the UNHCR, WHO, and multiple refugee rescue NGO's in Malta/Italy, in 2017
- London while working on setting up international charity platform to connect international volunteers to international opportunities to volunteer, from 2017-2019
