Verona needs a bookshop!

Verona, Wisconsin. Hometown USA. A beautiful little town full of wonderful people and potential. But there is something missing. A bookshop! We will call this independent bookshop Kismet Books because some stories are meant to be.
At Kismet Books we believe that stories can change the world. Please, be a part of our story and help us change the world one book at a time.
The historic, almost 200 hundred year old, Matts House in Verona is available, giving us the opportunity to create a place in Verona centered around a love of books, art, and community.
We plan to use this amazing space to offer a high quality selection of new and used books for every kind of reader with a special focus on our children's selection.
At Kismet Books there will be dedicated space on our shelves for local authors to get their work out into the community. We will partner with local artists to display and sell their artwork .
Also, as it is 2020 we will, of course, also offer a website with online ordering from a catalog of millions of books delivered straight to your door and for books already on shelves in the shop we will have curbside pick-up.
Our mission will be to create a welcoming space where folks can come in to enjoy the lovely building, lounge in a cozy chair with a book and a great cup of something yummy, and build a community centered on a shared love of stories.
Kismet Books will post a monthly poll asking the community to choose where to donate each month. This shop is a passion project for us. Uplifting and supporting our community will be our highest priority and we will reflect that in our values and actions.
Taking full advantage of our beautiful building, we will host scores of events including book clubs, story times, yoga, game nights, the list goes on and on! The second floor of the Matts House is full of sunshine, high ceilings, and open space that is perfect for every kind of community gathering you might imagine.
The best part of having a local bookshop in Verona run by a Verona local is the service! We will be a part of the community, welcoming and getting to know all the people who walk through the door. When asked what they would like in a bookshop, a local resident told us "I imagine arriving at your store with my daughter saying, “We need some new books.” You’ll be familiar with local, regular customers like us, so you’ll proceed to the shelves/displays and hand-pick what you know we’ll love. This will be a strength for you - you’ll form relationships with your regular customers, become familiar with their preferences and eventually be able to meet them at the door with their next favorite book in your hand." At Kismet books we want this to be our story.
We hope to build the kind of relationship with the community that transforms Kismet Books into a reflection of the people who support it. We want to become a part of the fabric of Verona and help make Hometown USA a little more hometown.
Giving to this gofundme helps us raise enough money to get started and secure our SBA loan.
If you are unable to contribute with a donation, we understand! You can still lend us your support by sharing with everyone you know who might like to support local independent bookshops!
We are looking to open our doors in November so we need your help today to get everything in motion. Help us welcome you into our cozy little bookshop just in time to get cozy sipping something warm and shake off the cold of a Wisconsin winter surrounded by books and friends.
We are so incredibly grateful for your support and will show you our appreciation every day with smiles, warm welcomes, and unparalleled service at Kismet Books.
Be a part of our story. Change the world.
Thank You.
