Bring Back Sarobia Garden

Donation protected

Help us bring this BEAUTIFUL garden back to life!

Within the grounds of Neshaminy State Park, there is a section of land that has a rich and very interesting history.

The former owners of this land were Robert and Sara Logan. Robert was a descendant of James Logan who was the colonial secretary to William Penn the founder of Pennsylvania. The land was given to the couple as a wedding gift from her parents. When naming the land, they decided to combine their first names to come up with the name Sarobia.

During their time in this beautiful wooded paradise they established a mansion as their home, a magical garden, as well as a farm and 13 individual dwellings in which they formed an artist colony.

The garden was modeled in a theme of Alice in Wonderland, complete with a statue of Humpty Dumpty to greet you at the entrance, 3 playing card garden beds and a human sized chess board that was regularly used by the owners and guests. At one time there were a lot of statues and benches to help accent the entire garden experience.

The history of this place goes far deeper than all that I had explained here and every bit of it is completely exciting.

When I first came across this gem, I instantly could feel the magic in this garden and I knew there had to be more than what I was seeing. I did some research and found that there indeed was more to this garden. At the time there were MANY brick paths that were buried under dirt and grass. This was about the time that I also found out about the meaning of the playing cards and the existence of the chess board. I was plagued by an extreme want to do something about this place....to bring it back to life.

After talking with the park manager I was given the go ahead to become a volunteer and begin the process of bringing it all back to life. Along this journey I was fortunate enough to gain some other volunteers who had the same dream of bringing back the garden.

Over the course of a few months we were able to completely dig out the paths, playing cards and chess board.

Now the time has come to start the fund raising phase so that we can accumulate the funds to buy flowers, bushes, statues, benches and equipment to help us make this dream come true.

I am hoping that everyone reading will be able to donate to this cause. We will obviously accept money donations, but we will also take physical donations of flowers and bushes (ONLY plants/bushes native to Pennsylvania and donated upon proper planting time), sod, mulch (or wood chips) as well as any equipment that we could use for the planting and upkeep of the garden.
(Before donating any plant life or bushes please contact me with what specific kind so that I can run it passed the park manager for approval.)

All donations are more than appreciated. Please help us to bring this magical garden back to life.

Also, if you would like to watch the progress of the digging out of this beautiful place, you can view them on my YouTube channel as I did chronicle the whole process over the course of many videos:
