Bring Carlos Baltazar Home: Funeral Fund

My name is Melinda; my uncle Carlos Baltazar was a U.S. Forest Service firefighter with Big Bear Hotshots; he went missing 4 years ago on Sep 20, 2020. While fighting the El Dorado fire, his squad boss sadly passed. Carlos went to report to the barracks to prepare for the funeral services and was not seen after talking with co-workers. Apparently, he left the barracks a short time after arriving; later, his vehicle was found crashed along Highway 18. Our family started to get worried after not hearing from him as it was not like him to not call. He was very family-oriented and always kept in touch. We went to the San Bernardino Sheriff's office Thursday, where we found out they had found his vehicle crashed, and they had not been able to locate him. The Sheriff searched for a couple days and could not find him. Our family has been going through so much agony and pain not knowing what happened to him these past years; not having closure has been so horrible, especially for his 77-year-old mother Maria Baltazar, who is now left to raise his 14-year-old son Carlos Alexander Baltazar Jr. On Feb 22, 2025 we received the news that they had finally found his remains close to where he had disappeared. We are asking for the public's help to finally put my uncle to rest and give him proper funeral services. He did so much for the community as a Wildland Firefighter and put his life on the line for others. Carlos was always positive, always putting God and his family first. My uncle was a fantastic friend and colleague who was like a brother to all, constantly pushing others to always be the best. He loved to exercise and listen to music, but most of all, he loved and adored his mom and son. Now, we need everybody's help to unite and help bring him home to us by supporting his family.
