Bring CheckIt to inmates
Donation protected
CheckIt strives to help inmates in the United States have access to the information they need to learn. We send each inmate a magazine made for them specifically, filled with content catered to their interests.
This fundraiser aims to give six months of CheckIt Publications to 500 inmates or more for Christmas.

About 1 in 110 Americans are currently in jail or prison. No other country in the world has a higher incarceration rate! Most of these individuals will eventually get out, and return to society, hopefully to not return to prison.
A recent RAND study (http://www.rand.org/blog/rand-review/2016/01/course-correction-the-case-for-correctional-education.html)
concluded that every dollar spent on education for inmates saves $5 in re-incarceration costs. Our goal is to provide inmates in the United States with resources they wouldn’t otherwise have, such as Wikipedia articles, images from the web, books, flashcards, puzzles, and more. By federal law, inmates cannot access the Internet, making many of these resources unavailable to them unless they have someone to print and send it to them. To improve this situation, we send a monthly, custom-built magazine which is made specifically for each subscriber, catered to their interests.
With CheckIt, family and/or friends of an inmate can help connect them with the outside world in a way not possible before. We’ve built a sophisticated computer-based, eco-friendly process for creating custom magazines. It automatically scours the web, finding articles, images, books, and more related to the interests of each inmate - individually. It also generates response pages, which let them customize the font size, how large the images they receive are, what types of content they receive, how much of each content type, how hard their puzzles are, what languages of flashcards they want, lets them follow links in Wikipedia articles, and lots more. They simply check the boxes on the response sheet and send it back to us for automatic computerized processing.
Anyone can contribute monetarily to help fund subscriptions for inmates. The monthly cost is less than $10, but many inmates can't afford this or do not have relatives who are willing to take the initiative.
When you donate here, you are donating directly to an inmate who wants CheckIt, but because of their circumstances cannot afford it. Your contribution can have an immediate impact on a person's wellbeing - and a lasting impact on society!
