Hello, my name is Beverly. I am Markeith's sister. With a sad heart, I am reaching out to all friends, family, and the community to ask for help with a terrible tragedy that has impacted my brother's life and affected his health.

He is a native of Florida, father of two (Markell and Mayah), and a retired City of Daytona Beach police officer. He is currently employed at Lake Brantley High School. With a passion for teaching sports, he has coached water polo for over a decade, starting at Lyman High School, and is currently the head coach over Water Polo & Swim at Wekiva High School.

Unfortunately, my brother had a stroke on December 29th while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. When it was discovered that he was unconscious, he was immediately transported to a neighboring medical facility.

Being transparent, the first medical facility to which he was transported to is not designed to provide the intensive neurological emergency care required in the first few hours following a stroke. My family and I have worked diligently to get in touch with the US Embassy to arrange for my brother to be transferred to a facility that could provide the kind of care that is required to increase his chances of survival.

Even though this hospital is an improvement over the last facility, it is still not equipped to give him the essential treatment he so desperately requires. He requires CRITICAL emergency neurological care and it is imperative that we airlift him back to the United States. Within the week, our objectives are to make certain he is stabilized, secure medical and emergency flight expenses, and arrange for his prompt return to the best facility to care for his needs in the United States.

Any additional money provided will go toward paying for my brother's emergency medical expenses, his rehabilitation, and any further care he might need to get through this trying time. We ask for your prayers, donations, and support in advance. No donation is too small!
