Bring Darren Home: Urgent Medical Aid Needed
Donation protected
Our friend Darren Webster was severely injured in an an auto/pedestrian accident in Ensenada, MX during Baja 1000 contingency on Thursday November 14. He has been in the ICU for 36 hours after 7 hours of surgery for a crushed pelvis, internal bleeding and partially severed hand. Funds are being raised to cover the air-ambulance expenses back to Utah and any additional surgeries he will require.
Darren is an incredible husband, loving father and doting grandpa. And speaking for everyone that knows him, he is also highly sarcastic and quick to belly laughter. Darren lost a finger as a young kid in a hydraulic press and while in the emergency room in Ensenada before being sedated for surgery he joked with the doctor that he came in with 10 fingers and wanted to know what happened to it. There is hope that the surgeons in the US can save his 4 fingered hand.
We appreciate all the outpouring of support from the racing community and all of those back home in the US.
Desert racing has been his passion for almost 15 years and this was to be his 11th Baja 1000. He is surrounded by family and friends and although sedated and in the ICU we know he is battling to get back to them. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones in the accident. It's been a very difficult few days for all those involved. Darren has a long road ahead of him and getting him back to the US is the first step in that journey.
Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for respecting the privacy of the Webster family at this time.
