Bring Emily home to continue her fight.

Hi my name is Elise and I am not one to ask for help, but my cousin Emily McManus is near and dear to our entire family. If you are lucky enough to be related, friends or acquainted with her. You know she is an amazing, beautiful soul. Kindness, understanding, empathy, generosity, and compassion come easily to her. She is also one of my personal heroes. Emily was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with 75% metastasis of her Liver about Halloween of 2021. November 2021, she had an operation for a chest port to administer Chemo to her entire body. This was put in place to give her veins a break. She has been getting Chemo almost every other week since 2021. She sits through 4 hours of Chemo only to come home with a bag of Chemo attached to her, for another 48 hours. She got bounced around to Oncologists due to insurance before landing at Duke in August of 2022. September of 2022, they operated again, and she received a HAI PUMP that goes directly to her liver. This can give her 400 times the amount of Chemo to her liver without feeling the side effects. May of 2023, she had the right side of her liver removed, then it was supposed to be just maintenance every other week. Come August of 2023 they found more cancer masses in the liver and a new one in her back. So back to bi weekly Chemo again. Emily is alone in North Carolina while her support system / family is in her home state of New Jersey. We are working on living arrangements, transferring medical as her pump can't just go to any medical team so everything has to be just right. Emily can't obviously work due to treatment and needs help until everything is in order. Although we have a benefit in the works for her hometown for February, as these things take time to plan. She will now be down a roommate so her rent just doubled and no transportation rides to treatment. I am asking for help to cushion her so the rest of the family can do the work to bring her home. Emily has such a hard fight ahead still, the best thing for her is to bring her home to be with loved ones for the best chance for her to fight and to heal.
