Help Bring E-Mobility to Rural Women in Africa

My name is Shantha Bloemen. I am the Founder and CEO of Mobility for Africa, a social enterprise working in rural Zimbabwe. For the last 5 years, I have put my heart, soul and all my savings into proving that rural women in African don't need to walk endless hours every day carrying heavy loads on their heads, but instead can benefit from the E-electric mobility revolution, save hours of time, end the daily drudgery and increase productivity.

Crops rotting in fields, women dying in childbirth, kids dropping out of school all because there is no safe, affordable and sustainable transport and where on average households spend 20- 30 % of their income on any available transport they can find. This may mean an ox drawn cart, a wheelbarrow, an old second-hand car that often doesn’t get all the way to the field, a motorbike – which is only able to carry 100 kilos and is not gender friendly.

The mobility crisis in rural Africa impacts on the lives of more than 700 million people who live in rural areas amongst them millions of small-scale farmers who are the backbone of agricultural productively that under pins every African economy.

Mobility for Africa has developed an award-winning solution to the challenge of environmentally friendly development through its solar powered E-tricycles specifically engineered for rural areas. Not only have we developed a fleet system using renewable energy operated mini grids and battery swapping but our business model is unique- harnessing digital technologies to provide a version of lease-to-own meets uber that is easy and affordable. We now have 300 tricycles deployed at 6 rural sites service last mile rural transport needs in a 30 km radius. And huge demand to grow.

Right now, 50 life-changing tricycles are waiting in the port of Beira. These solar-powered vehicles are more than just transportation; they're symbols of empowerment, independence, and economic opportunity for women in rural communities.

Without your support, these tricycles will not reach our charging stations and beneficiaries. We have just 15 days to raise $30,000 to cover the shipping, clearance, and VAT costs. Every dollar counts.

Imagine the impact:

‍‍‍Empowered Women: These tricycles will put more women in the driver's seat, giving them the freedom and flexibility to access markets, healthcare, and education.

Vibrant Economies: By increasing income generation and reducing transportation costs, we're helping to build self-sustaining rural communities.

♻️A Greener Future: Solar-powered tricycles are a sustainable and eco-friendly solution to transportation challenges in Africa.

Please don't let this opportunity pass. Your contribution will make a tangible difference in the lives of countless women and families.

We know that the by bringing the E-Mobility revolution to rural areas in Africa and changing the lives of women, improving agricultural productivity, stimulating local economic activities.

Please join us on this journey and change the way rural women travel. Any contribution- no matter how big or small will help us make this journey.

If you don't in the US, we have set up the Mobility for Africa Fund , that is a registered 503(c) organization.
