Bring "Full Court Press" to life — Short Film Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Asia Thomas and I am the writer and director of, FULL COURT PRESS, a short film about community, relationships, and the greed that threatens them both. I wrote this script inspired by all the salons I’ve been in and barber shops I grew up hearing about because there is such a unique space built within those walls and the conversations. This film emphasizes the importance of community and the need to protect the found families we find ourselves in.
This will be my fifth directorial project, and in my work as a filmmaker, I seek to tell stories about humanity, relationships, and people as a whole. I am currently a senior at DePaul University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television, and here, I have found a great passion for writing and directing. In my work now and in the future, I want to tell original stories about those who often fly under the radar.
Full Court Press follows a barber whose life turns a little upside down when a young boy and a real estate mogul show up at his doorstep. While the boy simply wants a job, the real estate mogul wants to take down his entire business. As the film progresses, Malcolm gravitates to the boy and suddenly has to re-navigate parenthood while ensuring his livelihood isn’t swept from under him.
This story is very near and dear to my heart, and any donations raised will go towards bringing it to life! The funds will be used for filming locations, food for cast and crew, production design, and equipment transport. We have an amazing cast and crew already and your support will allow them to take their talents even further. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance!
