Hello! My name is Haley, and I am fundraising for the future of our world.
I teach high school freshmen in Colorado where mental health concerns for teens are some of the highest in the nation. Knowing that mental and emotional well-being of young people is rarely taught in a practical way that teens can relate to, I answered the call.
My kids are now learning about emotional regulation and self-discovery in a way that is fun – and gives them tangible tools to handle their emotions and ultimately manage and master their thoughts and emotions.
The kids I get to teach are brilliant young people. They are no-doubt our future CEO's, presidents, thought leaders, and civilians that will be steering our world the direction it will go.
We have to support their healthy development.
A central topic in our classroom is heart coherence. Students learn about the heart and the key role that it plays in our thinking, our relationships, and our creativity and intuition –not to mention our happiness.
The heart, it turns out, is the key player in how well we think, function, feel, connect with others, and even how well we perform (from academics to sports and more). In the communication between the heart and the brain (the nervous system), the heart actually does 80 - 90% of the talking! So, it makes sense then, that the brain only functions as well as the information that the heart sends.
The HeartMath Institutes’ 30 years of research in heart rate variability (HRV) teaches us not only the important role of our emotions, but also how to measure and build coherence (harmonious states and functioning within systems) for optimal academic (and other) readiness, heart-centered communication, and an overall improved sense of well-being.
I am working closely with the HeartMath Institute to get revolutionary teachings of emotional regulation and heart-brain coherence into classrooms everywhere – beginning with my own.
Your donation will fund the use of the HeartMath Institutes "Inner- Balance" Bluetooth devices in our classroom. Students will be able to measure their HRV and practice regulating their emotional states and building coherence together.
It is my vision that these students and students to follow will change the world someday. It’s time for a revolution in education!
