Bring Heather Home to Maryland
Donation protected
Update: The funding goal has been met, I'm inexpressibly grateful for all of your support. I've posted an update thanking everyone, and I cannot put into words how much this means. I'm going to leave the gofundme page up with an updated goal, so if anyone wants to donate above ane beyond they'll be able too. Again, the original goal has been met so anything beyond will only go to lessen the financial burden as I continue handling Heather's affairs.
Thank you all again so much.
My name is Michael, and I need help. Recently, Heather, my wife of 16 years, lost her battle with a chronic illness. After more than 40 days on a ventilator, she kept getting worse, and after many painful discussions, her family and I made the decision to let her go.
She never gave up the fight and would use every bit of her strength to live the best life she could. A few years ago, with diminished strenght and a feeding tube, she even got to the top of Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.
Heather dealt with chronic malnutrition, and that spawned numerous other symptoms that she fought through. Over the course of the past decade, Heather went from an active outdoor enthusiast who loved art and people to often being unable to move without a walker or wheelchair.
Heather often talked with me about going back to her home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and while we never got to make that trip, I know that's where she wanted to be in the end. I want to take Heather back home.
I'm fundraising to honor Heather's wish to return to her home to the Eastern Shore. I want to get Heather home but I need a bit of financial help, Between what I have, and what family have put in I'm about $1500 short. I know being the holiday season i already a strain, but any little bit helps.
The $2000 will cover the difference of whats needed for her cremation and travel back to Maryland, with a buffer for unexpected things.
