Bring Home Mary Sullivan

Hello, my name is Kelly Jones. Mary’s daughter, Lisa Rabil and her husband Brian are dear friends of mine and I started this go fund me to help bring Mrs. Mary home after she has faced yet another set back medically and this time all the way in Florida. Mary is a long way from home and all the options for having her medically transported back to North Carolina are very costly. None of these options are covered by insurance and all will have to be paid out of pocket. No average person can cover these types of unexpected medical expenses alone without facing serious debt and difficult decisions. However I know if we all pitch in a little we can at least help with ease this burden for Mrs Mary and her Family!

This is Mrs Mary’s story in Lisa’s own words.

My mom has breast cancer and is under chemotherapy treatments after having a single mastectomy at 73 years old this year. The two of us flew to Florida on Sept 29 to see my nephew and help him and surprise him as he had not seen his grandmother in years and is unable to travel our of state to see her we planned to come for four days just long enough to visit and get home for treatments.

The following night Sept 30, she fell in the house we were renting and crushed her right arm, 3 breaks in the shoulder and 3 in the wrist she had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital in Fort Myers Florida at Gulf Coast Medical Center Trauma Unit.

We were set to leave on Tuesday Oct 3 originally for her chemo treatment the following day but because of her severe injury and being post surgery we were not able to leave on regular commercial flying or even driving the 11 hours home is not an option because of her condition. Her arm is completely non-weight bearing, in a lot of pain, and now on oxygen as well which are all new issues since our trip began.

So we opted for her to go to a rehab here by the hospital to try to get her well enough to make the trip home safely and more stable. On the night of October 9, she fell off the bed at the rehab facility!! She has been admitted back into the hospital with a fracture on her pelvic bone (inoperable) and bruising on her head. She fell and landed on the left side of her body causing more pain and now she can barely stand because of the new injury. We desperately need to get her home to North Carolina. I want to have her at my home to do in home rehab and get her back to get back on her scheduled chemo with her doctors there.

She was suppose to be healing well enough to get home ASAP and we are worse off than when she originally left the hospital after surgery. Getting her home as soon as possible with medical assistance and transport is the best option for her.
