Help a domestic violence survivor start over

A few months ago, my wife became friendly with one of her co workers. Within a couple of days, there were multiple red flags.

This young woman is 20 years old and has a 3 and a half year old son. At the age of 15 she began being groomed by a man 8 years older than her. This man was horrible to both her and their son. My wife and her had set up a “safe word” so if things got too bad, she could text it and we would show up to remove them from the situation.

On Friday, October 20th that text came in. We went to get her and she was able to run out of the door with her son while I fought the abuser. They were barefoot and the baby was half clothed when they got in the car with my wife and took off. After the fight, the police came. The man was taken to the hospital and when he was medically released, jail.

She is now with her family who lives in a different part of the state. She is eager to get back to work, but has a lot to take care of while adjusting to her new normal. The parents of the young man, if you want to even call him that, took her car and the police say it’s a “civil issue”. She has been left with very little. Her phone, smashed. Her clothes, destroyed. Her car, gone (for now).

Please help us get this extraordinary young woman and her child back on their feet.
