Bringing immersive Theatre to Totnes

Hey,

We are Mars and Alice, two inspired and proactive creatives who have a shared dream of bringing unique and memorable gatherings to our local community and eventually beyond. Our vision is to hold immersive, interactive and visually beautiful gatherings for each of the Celtic celebrations of the year; telling stories of our land and original stories. Through interactive theatre we hope to give our guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the narrative, meeting and interacting with characters, solving puzzles and playing games to move the story along. Each individual has the chance to participate and create for themselves a subjective experience; a feast for the senses.

These immersive experiences will provide a connective, exciting and creative evening. We both feel inspired to bring people together and give them an unforgettable experience an so these events have a strong emphasis on play, and provide people the opportunity to really let go into a land of imagination and wonder. We believe this is important because it gives us a way to get into our bodies and use our minds to find imaginative solutions to problems, working as a team or as individuals. We hope this will provide a space where people can connect to their inner child as well as their silliest adult.

Our first event will be in honour of Samhain, the Celtic festival celebrating the end of harvest and the beginning of winter. Traditionally this was the beginning of the Celtic new year and we hope our first Mysticulous Productions event will kickstart the new cycle in style. Our ambition is to hold an event for each of the 8 points of the year, taking our community on a journey through the wheel. Each event will vary in story, style and content to harness the knowledge of each Celtic festival. Our creativity will run wild to come up with incredible and unique experiences that people will just have to come back to.

They will take place on a local piece of land; Woodland Rising. It is wonderfully close to Totnes (15 minute walk), through the woods to a beautiful space. Mars held a festival on this land earlier this year where it showed us how much our community needs a space like this to come together. A lot of work has already gone into the land but there is much to do to prepare for an event in the autumn. We are raising money to pay for structures, such as marquees and tarps with the hope of making the space more comfortable during the colder months. The whole community will use these at all of our events.

We feel passionate about paying our creatives for their input, and we will require the skills and time of many artists and trades to realise this vision to its full potential. We hope to book some local bands to share their music as well as support our actors, performers, costume and prop makers and crafters. We hope these events will become a regular opportunity to showcase the full range of talent in Totnes. However, as this is our first event, our budget depends on donations and ticket sales.

Truly, this is the beginning of something magical. We are so inspired and excited after the success of the trial event, Woodland Rising. Following feedback, we believe it’s essential to take it to the next level and create Mysticulous Productions. We know it will be an experience like no other and we cannot wait to show you this vision, but we certainly need your help to bring it to life. In this world with rising costs and being two hardworking artists, we are not in the position to fund it ultimately ourselves so we are asking for donations of any size to help us kickstart this dream venture.
