Bring Karina Terán's Thesis Project to Life

Hola a todos! My name is Karina Terán, and I am a professional dancer, dance educator, and MFA candidate in Dance at Hunter College in New York City. I am thrilled to share my journey with you as I work on my thesis project, "Aquí y Ahora", which explores the profound connection between dance, identity, and the immigrant experience of our Latino communities in NY while celebrating the artistry of an iconic Latin American artist.

About My Thesis Performance:

Aquí y Ahora is the culmination of my MFA in Dance studies. This project is a heartfelt tribute to one of Latin America’s most legendary musicians, composers, and guitarists: Gustavo Cerati. His timeless legacy continues to inspire generations, offering profound reflections on love, life, and existence. Through dance, "Aquí y Ahora" seeks to honor and explore Cerati’s music, telling the stories of Latino immigrants in New York City. The performance will include twelve dancers and LIVE music, and it will premiere on March 14, 2025, at Hunter College; blending ballet, jazz, theater, Flamenco, Latino, and contemporary dance to honor Latino culture and resilience. It reflects the sacrifices of immigration—what Latinos leave behind and the creativity, heritage, and strength they bring to the U.S.
