Les Thompson is an Afro-Latino cinematographer and director born and raised in Northeast Los Angeles, CA. He studied film at Cal State L.A and has worked on many films spanning from independent shorts to features. Having directed several comedies, Les wishes to further develop his voice as a storyteller and he is excited to implement his experience and perspective into creating this short film.
Sour is a comedy and drama narrative that occurs in Los Angeles, CA during the year of 1995. Devin and Nick start a lemonade stand to earn money for a new video game. After success takes off quickly, the local Mafia figures confront Nick and Devin warning them to cease their lemonade sales in their territory. Nick and Devin embark on a mission to confront the Mafia in order to save their business and rocky friendship.
This project is meaningful because it explores the nuanced challenges of navigating friendships through comedy in a way that others can relate to. Comedy has always been a part of Les since growing up; he believes laughter is the best medicine and wants people to enjoy life and laugh at the things they enjoy. Les aspires to showcase to audiences how multi-dimensional and relatable characters are to people in real life by creating this story.
